2023 Results are now posted. Hot dang that was a fun time. Thanks to everyone that came out and helped us drink coffee, eat baklava, eat tacos and drink carbonated beverages. Special shout out to John Heck for joining us on the ride on his birthday. We hope it was a good one! Next up is Jemez Loop. See you there.
Cost: Free for now. The price increases to $1,000.00 on May 7th so register quick.
Staging area: Click HERE for the start location
Start time: 9 AM Who in the hell had the idea to start that early?
Entry Limit: 74 So sign up now!
Rules: Sign in before the race and sign out when you finish. When you sign in we'll give you the run down of using the Time Machine to get your finish time to log on the sign out sheet. Roads will be open to traffic and trails will have other users on them. Any vehicle on the course is not expecting to encounter a bike race on these roads so please stay to the right hand side of the road. Don't ride like an idiot. Be nice to other people. Ride within your abilities. You are responsible for your own safety, navigating the course, and addressing any mechanicals that may arise. Last and most important have fun.

Hot damn, we remembered to update the site...finally. Better late than early! I think that's how the saying goes. Anywho our friend Hadji from RA - Racing Apparel hooked us up with a sweet course on Rowe Mesa for this event. He is organizing the Santa Fe Century and wants to use this event as a test run of the SF Century Gravelón race. Test pilots we shall be.
We will have a short course (~16 miles) and a long course (~52 miles) and both are pretty dang good. 99% of the course is descending and the bits of climbing are practically the moving walkways you find in an airport. Oh ya, the whole course will have a tail wind too. If you believe all this I bet you $1 that gullible isn't in the dictionary.
Seriously though the courses are riding great. The first 8ish miles are on double track that are a little rutted and rocky in spots but easily rideable. At mile 8-10 is around where the short course and long course diverge. Around mile 15 the long course turns into a chip seal road with some potholes sprinkled in and then turns back into dirt that is pretty smooth and fast rolling for the remainder of the course. The short course continues on dirt roads similar to the first 8 miles. For both courses I think 40c tires will be a good balance between comfort and speed. You can probably get away with rolling 35c tires and be fine. If you want to roll bigger tires for increased comfort that would be swell. I'd recommend against riding a road bike but hey if that tickles your fancy, you do you. We'll try to save some tacos for you if you finish.
Pretty much come ride with us and all your dreams will come true. Especially if your dream is to ride your bike in the forest and then have barbacoa tacos with some good folks. Below are course maps. Make sure to load them on a GPS to navigate since the courses won't be marked. See you on May 6th.
