April 14 - THE BOX
The BOX was so much fun that we forgot to post results...until now. Only a week late. We'll call that timely and a win. Anyway, thanks to everyone that came out and rode. See you in June in El Rito!
Cost: Free for now. The price increases to $1,000.00 on April 15th so register quick.
Staging area: Click HERE for the start location.
Start time: 10:00AM
Entry Limit: 74 So sign up now!
Rules: Sign in before the race and sign out when you finish. Make sure to sign out! If you don't sign out, you will be subject to the ultimate punishment. We don't know what that is yet and we don't want to find out so just sign out. When you sign in we'll give you the run down of using the Time Machine to get your finish time to log on the sign out sheet. Roads will be open to traffic and trails will have other users on them. Any vehicle on the course is not expecting to encounter a bike race on these roads so please stay to the right hand side of the road. Don't ride like an idiot. Be nice to other people. Ride within your abilities. You are responsible for your own safety, navigating the course, and addressing any mechanicals that may arise. You will need a gps device and the gps file. Last and most important have fun.
Details:
We got a good course for this one. 32 miles and 2,100 feet of climbing with all but 1 mile on dirt roads. Ya, ya, it's a little shorter and less climbing than other courses but it's for a reason. Saturday, April 13th, is the San Ysidro Dirty Century. (link HERE) You should ride the Dirty Century on Saturday and then come do the Dusty Roadrunner on Sunday. If you still feel like our course is too short after, go do another lap or hell, another couple laps. We won't guarantee that we will have tacos or bubbly beverages when you finish...life is all about decisions...but you might end up earning some points for the coveted Intergalactic Grand Championship of the World. What's that you ask? Keep a close eye on this website and the Nero Instagram account (@neroveloce) for details. We have exquisite intel from multiple, reputable, confidential sources that there is going to be a Dusty Roadrunner series award this year! If your reaction is "holy crap!" then that's the right response.
The 1 mile of the route that is paved is on HWY 60. There isn't much traffic, so don't be scared. Ride to the right side of the road and you'll be a-ok. Definitely stop and look both ways when entering the paved stretch and check behind you when turning off. If a car happens to be coming, they won't care that you are about to win nothing at the Universe's most prestigious free gravel bike racing series in New Mexico.
We're stoked to see you in a few weeks! Hit us with any questions at [email protected] in the meantime.
See you dudes and dudettes there.
