October 8th - South Valley ROubaix
We made a last minute tweak to the course. The file and map below are the updated version. We removed the northern most section of the course to avoid an old dog that occasionally gets excited and sneaks out of it's yard to join the race. We figure it's probably best to avoid with a group of us, so we shortened the course ever so slightly and changed the start location.
Cost: Free
Staging area: Click HERE for a Google map of the start/finish area.
Start time: pre-ride lap at 5:30. Race starts at 6:00pm.
Rules: Roads will be open to traffic and trails will have other users on them. Any vehicle on the course is not expecting to encounter a bike race on these roads so please stay to the right hand side of the road. Don't ride like an idiot. Be nice to other people. Ride within your abilities. You are responsible for your own safety, navigating the course, and addressing any mechanicals that may arise. Last and most important have fun.
Details: This is a classic Albuquerque loop in the South Valley. The loop is mostly flat and around 8 miles with 2.5 miles of pavement, the rest is good quality dirt roads/paths. You can probably get away with riding a road bike on most of the loop, but our recommendation is for tires 35c and larger for comfort. We will do 2 or 3 loops depending on daylight. There are four gates on the loop that will require you to dismount your bike and jump over them. If you can bunny hop them, feel free to. We will have a few course markings up, but it would still be good idea to have the loop on your GPS device as we won't have every turn marked. We should have some bubbles to drink after if you feel so inclined.
See you there!
