July 23 - Jemez Loop
Results are now posted. Thanks to everyone that came out and rode. We'll see you at the next one!
Cost: Free
Start location: Click HERE for a Google map of the start/finish area.
Start time: 10:00AM
Entry Limit: 74 So sign up now!
Rules: Sign in before the race and sign out when you finish. When you sign in we'll give you the run down of using the Time Machine to get your finish time to log on the sign out sheet. Roads will be open to traffic and trails will have other users on them. Any vehicle on the course is not expecting to encounter a bike race on these roads so please stay to the right hand side of the road. Don't ride like an idiot. Be nice to other people. Ride within your abilities. You are responsible for your own safety, navigating the course, and addressing any mechanicals that may arise. Last and most important have fun.
Details: Back again for 2022! This is a good one. Three distance options; short (15 miles & ~1,500ft of gain), medium (28 miles & ~2,700ft of gain), and long (46 miles & 4,500ft of gain). Beautiful forest, twisty roads, and epic views. We don't believe in waking up before 6AM and even waking up that early is a struggle so we'll start the races at 10AM to allow you to wake up at a reasonable hour and drive out the morning of the race.
We're racing Saturday and planning to camp and party Saturday night. There are a lot of dispersed camping spots close to the start/finish area so feel free hang out with us after the race. Speaking of the start/finish area we've picked an area that we think is going to be pretty sweet. We are hoping no one snags the spot before us but if the spot is taken we will find another one nearby. We guarantee we will be at the start/finish area before you, so keep an eye out for the white van with the Dusty Roadrunner graffiti banner on it as you get close. If you can carpool, you should. We are planning to waive the race entry fee for everyone that carpools. How is that for a bargain?!
Course Description: It's gonna be badass. We really like this loop and are pretty sure you will too. There aren't any gas stations or convenience stores on the route so plan accordingly. If you bring a water filter there are a few streams to filter water from. The best place to filter is near mile 28 on the long loop. You can't miss it. The route goes right over the river. Heck, last year someone was so excited to see the river they jumped in from the bridge. We're betting the long course takes around 3-5 hours to complete so you'll probably be alright without packing a water filter.
